Sündi bleibt (2025)

Over the past ten years, the Hambach Forest has become a symbol of resistance against brown coal mining. Despite the government's climate protection plans, forests continue to be cleared for coal. Accompanied by media coverage and widespread nationwide support, activists occupied parts of the Hambach Forest for several years. But even after the camp was cleared in 2018, the nature and climate activists remained active, although largely out of the public eye. At the end of 2024, they occupied the “Sündi” heritage forest on the edge of the Hambach Forest to prevent its clearing by RWE.
