Lifetime Sentence (2025)

For many of us, zoos were exciting weekend trips during our childhood and youth. They offered the opportunity to see non-native (or, as they were called back then, “exotic”) animals and get a feel for how they move.

But not how they live. Because one thing is clear: even if zoos genuinely try to design enclosures that are “species-appropriate,” they remain just that: enclosures.
